Description
Throughout the war, Barton traveled from battle to battle, doing what she could to nurse the soldiers back to health. She was brave enough to go right where the fighting was taking place. Her work of soliciting and distributing supplies and nursing the wounded was grueling and endless. She once complained to a friend, “I have moved my family (the army) of a thousand or fifteen hundred and with a half hours notice in the night”. She didn't realize how much her actions were appreciated.
